Assessments for CA and Trig • All homework, quizzes, tests, and final exam using MyMathLab • Grade Distribution 10% Participation (5% class and 5% lab) 10% Homework (drop lowest 2) 10% Quizzes (drop the lowest 2) 45% Tests (4) 25% Final (can replace lowest test score)
Dual Credit ProgramFall 2006 - Present • Contents of the year-long high school Advanced Math course very closely align with the one semester 3-credit-hour LSU College Algebra and the one semester 3-credit-hour LSU Trigonometry • Students have same Homework, Quizzes, Tests, and Final Exam as LSU students using MyMathLab. • Teachers present 1/3 of the face-to-face classroom time; students work 2/3 of the face-to-face time in a computer lab environment with teacher support.
College Readiness ProgramSummer Workshop Plan • High school teachers become “certified” in the program by successfully completing the summer workshop training requirements. • Teachers have access to online content for the specific course they specialize in at the workshop. • Content in MML Alg I, Geometry, Alg II, Advanced Math, Business Calculus, Calculus, and 6-8th grade math.
The Plan College Readiness Program Summer Workshop Plan • Professional Development for 8-days during the summer in LSU Math Lab (DE teachers attend an additional workshop) • LSU faculty facilitator and 7 high school mentor teachers • Workshop content 1. Technology: MyMathLab by Pearson Education • Pedagogy: Redesigned course delivery 3. Content: Math homework for teachers
Elements of a SuccessfulProgram • Fixed, Structured Curriculum • Stable, Sustained Delivery Method • Extensive Teacher Training • Well-defined Logistics Plan • Strong Institutional Support • Adequate Technology • Scaling Options

CCSS Affect • … fewer students needing dev math, CA, and Trig? • …implementation of the CCSS force a change in the contents? • … affect existing dual credit programs? • … higher ed faculty doing now to prepare for these possible changes?
