  2. What is your goal? The teaching staff at Arnold Elementary School will improve student skills in math of all K, 1st and 2nd grade students. Second grade students will be measured by the following: Fall 2009 3rd grade MEAP scores Grade Level Common Assessments Spring 2010 County Wide Common Assessments First grade and Kindergarten students will be measure by the following: Grade Level Common Assessment

  3. We will utilize common MEAP vocabulary in Math across all grade levels. What steps have you taken? Use the following website http://mctmglce.mictm.org/cgi-bin/user.cgi to identify vocabulary consistent with MEAP - create a list comparing vocab from MCTM/Dept of Ed to Everyday Math Program. Using our list created from previous step, we have added MEAP vocabulary to our existing math curriculum. Lists have been created and separated into assessable and instructional vocabulary lists. These lists will be incorporated into their math binders to be used as references. What data have you collected? None What are you doing next? - Teachers will use common MEAP vocabulary in Everyday Math lessons. Objective 1: Teaching and Learning – Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment

Objective 2: Teaching for Learning – Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment We will utilize a variety or researched based resources to develop strong common assessments for each of the four strands. What steps have you taken? - Take math survey (mathematics practice survey) and share results. Generate discussion about the needs and answers. - Utilize information gleaned from presentation on Balanced Assessment by Tovah Sheldon to create strong common assessments. What data have you collected? - Teacher Perception Survey’s What are you doing next? - Using the information on Balanced Assessment in creation of common assessments.

  5. Objective 3: Teaching for Learning – Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment We will utilize resources to write common assessments for each grade level. What steps have been taken? - Broke down GLCES and looked for gaps in Everyday Math curriculum. - Scheduled additional curriculum days dedicated to writing strong common assessments. What data has been collected? - None What are you doing next? - Utilize curriculum days to write common assessments in each strand.
