  2. Warm-up Activity • 1.Review cardinal directions: • Norte • Sur • Este • Oeste • 2. Review prepositions • Arriba • Abajo/debajo de • A la izquierda/derecha

  3. ¿Dónde encontraría? • Students will be able to identify the México City on a geographical map. • Students will determine which direction to travel in order to go from city to city.

  4. ¿Cuánto cuesta? • Students will identify the Mexican peso. • Students will compare and contrast the peso with the U.S. dollar.

  5. Conversion • $1.00 U.S. = 10 Mexican pesos

  6. Yo quiero comprar • Students will use activity area, which will be converted into a store, where they will inquire about the price of a particular item. • Students should utilize vocabulary words to describe the item they want to purchase. • Once an item is selected, students will convert the dollar amount into Mexican pesos and vice versa.

  7. Bloom’s Taxonomy • The activities included in this unit emphasize the following aspects of Bloom’s Taxonomy: • Knowledge • Students describe the features of Mexican currency. • Students locate directions on a map of Mexico. • Students develop the essential skills for map reading, as well as a surface understanding of commerce. • Comprehension • Students compare the US dollar with the Mexican peso. • Application • Students examine an actual peso. • Students examine the map of Mexico • Students demonstrate the knowledge of prepositions and cardinal directions during map exercise. • Evaluation • Students determine what direction they would need to travel from Mexico City to Guadalajara. • Analysis • Students compare and contrast the two different currencies. • Students are able to identify Mexico, its capital and other major cities on a geographical map.
