C-M-P MHFA Timeline Additional Funding from CCBH for “Improving the lives of consumers in CMP area.” - June, 2011 Joint decision with CCBH, MHDS, NAMI and Crisis Intervention to implement 2 part initiative • Sequential Intercept Model – starting with joint CIT and Magistrate level education • Anti-Stigma Campaign

  3. C-M-P MHFA Timeline Monroe County Cross System Mapping – July, 2011 Introduction to MHFA Priorities included: Starting a CIT, using MHFA for anti-stigma, Correctional Facility MH training and educating Magistrate Staff

  4. C-M-P MHFA Timeline Part time Crisis Intervention Team and Mental Health First Aid Coordinator hired– August, 2011 Job Description: • Coordinate and facilitate the CIT-MHFA Task Force. • Develop and maintain the CIT Training Manual for participants. • Recruit trainers from law enforcement, mental health, advocacy and consumer ranks to maintain a strong training program. • Develop Procedures for recruiting Law Enforcement members for the Team. • Manage logistics and coordination of training presenters and activities. • Oversee course evaluations and enhancing the quality of the training. • Develop and maintain a system for gathering and analyzing data. • Educate the community about the goals and purpose of the program. • Market MHFA to appropriate venues • Schedule Trainers and MHFA classes

C-M-P MHFA Timeline Monroe County CIT-MHFA Task Force Created August, 2011 Stakeholder Members – 2 Police Chiefs, 2 Patrol Officers, 2 MHDS Supervisors, 2 Family Members, 2 Consumers (both experienced with MH system, Law Enforcement and Correctional Facility), 1 Crisis Intervention and 1 Hospital ER Crisis Staff

C-M-P MHFA Timeline Train the Trainer Course for 4 MHFA Trainers Sept, 2011 (additional Trainer added in Jan, 2012) 2 MHDS Staff, Task Force Coordinator, 1 from Crisis Intervention and 1 from Law Enforcement All trainers (except Police Officer) committed to do 6 trainings for free and then commit to expenses only trainings. Police Officer Committed to 3 free trainings (Department Paid) and then expenses only training.

  7. C-M-P MHFA Timeline Carbon County Cross System Mapping – October, 2011 Priorities included: Starting a CIT, using MHFA to train 911 Com Center and Correctional Facility staff MH training. Focus on training other Social Services in MHFA.

MHFA Trainings to Date Priorities • Support staff from MH facilities • Hospital (focus on ER) tech and security staff • Social Service professional and support staff • Police Department support staff • Magistrate support staff • 911 Center staff • Correctional Facility staff • First Responders • Faith Based public • University Resident Advisors • Local businesses and general public

MHFA Trainings to Date • 13 Trainings • 232 individuals • 2 paid trainings by local businesses Locations • 8 in Monroe County, 1 in Pike County, 2 in Carbon County, 1 in Northampton County and 1 in Lehigh County • Police Department Training Rooms, EMA Training Facilities, Hospital Training Facilities, Host Facility Conference Rooms

FUNDING Costs CIT/MHFA Coordinator- ~$16,000/ year shared with CIT program Manuals - ~$18 each w/ shipping Instructors - $30 a training each for expenses Certificates - ~$2 each and 1 hour staff support time for input and printing Handouts - ~$15 per training provided by MHDS and New Perspectives Technology - laptop, mobile printer, projector, screen, etc. Provided by MHDS, New Perspectives, and Host For-Profits charged $500 per training

  11. FUNDING • CCBH funding for first 2 years • Business and For-Profit Fees • Local Bank Grant • Faith Based Support (2churches so far) • MHDS providing staff and support • New Perspectives Crisis Services providing staff and support • Stroud Regional Police providing staff and support

  12. The Future • Certification in the Children, Public Safety and Rural MHFA • Certification of 2 additional Trainers • Use the Public Safety module in conjunction with CIT (with CIT patrol officer training – 6 hour) • Use the Public Safety module specifically with Correctional Facility staff, 911 Operators, Probation, and Hospital Security staff • Providing Children’s Training to Schools • Aggressively market to Businesses and for-profit agencies (Nursing Homes, Rehab Facilities, etc.) • Additional Funding Grants
