  4. Categories of Generic Questions • Household based • Person based

  5. Types of Generic Questions a.  Presence of a condition combined with items on participation and activity limitations b.  Whether respondent is handicapped or disabled

  6. Types of Generic Questions c.  Whether respondent suffers from an infirmity or disability d. Whether respondent has a disability; and e.  Whether there is a disabled or handicapped person in household

  7. Approaches Used in 2000 Round • Use of the UN recommendations • The activity limitations approach • Recommended list of disability items

  8. Need for Standard Screener Question • Some countries have used UN recommended list • No standard approach to screening
