  2. soccer • The game of soccer is very simple. • The object of the game is put the ball in the other team’s goal.

The Basic Rules • The length of the field must be at least 100 yards and 130 yards at the most. • The width of the field must be at least 50 yards and no wider than 100 yards • Only 11 players are allowed to play on the field at one time • The players can use any part of the body to hit the ball except for their hands.

  4. The Basic Rules • The goalie is the only player on the field allowed to his hands. • There are boundary lines. When the ball leaves these boundary lines, one player from the opposing team must throw the ball back into play. • A throw-in only takes place when the ball goes out of bounds, this is the only time a player can use his hands other than the goalie Click to go back to the review questions

  5. Positions • Goal Keeper-the goal keeper’s job is to keep the ball from entering the goal • Defender-his job is to defend the goal and keep the ball on the other side of the field
