What operation should we use? 4) Multiply the decimal by the total and you have your discount. 5) Subtract the discount from the total and you have your discounted price.

  3. Steps to calculate discounts

  4. Help Mrs. C

  5. Can I afford this? • So the total is $137.93 • I am going to take 25% off of that total. • What am I going to pay now? • Well, 25% of $137.93 = $34.48. This is the discount. • $137.93 - $34.48 = $103.45 This is the discounted price. • Any shortcuts?

  6. Now it’s your turn. Let’s shop • Coupons and prices will be provided. • Calculate the discount. • Now calculate the discounted price. • Be ready to report your findings on paper or notebook. • Happy Shopping!!!!!

  7. I need help again • I found this fabulous blouse in both Marcys and Bleemingdales. It was priced at $50 and each store had it on sale. At Marcys, you take 50% off the original price and at Bleemingdales, you take 30% off the original price then an additional 20% off the discounted price. Does it matter where I purchase the blouse? Explain.
