  1. iSearch Rubric • Write the name of the person whose paper you are grading in the top blank of the rubric you’ve been given. • Write your name on the back of the rubric. • Warning: If I have ANY reason to suspect you have not followed the rubric, I will re-grade the paper myself, and the difference in points will come off of your iSearch grade.

  5. Book Assigned: Explain how this information helped you better understand the book. Criteria: Discuss what the research added to writer’s understanding of the book Uses specific references to the book Points: 5: All criteria Satisfied 3: Most criteria satisfied 1: Most criteria unsatisfied Seminar Assigned: Explain how this information helped you better understand the theme of your seminar. Criteria: Format: Formal, full length essay Information: reflects depth of thought, indicative of quality research Writing: Mature control of writing, NO GRAMMAR OR SPELLING ERRORS (essay should reflect revision and effort), variety of sentence structures Points: Essay must meet ALL THREE criteria, or it receives the NEXT LOWEST score. 0- Essay does not address chosen topic. No research is evident. OR Paper is replete with errors. 1- Essay wanders off topic occassionally. Research was inadequate or incomplete. Paper contains lapses in grammar and spelling. 2- Essay is loosely focused on topic. Research offers insufficient discussion of evidence. Paper contains lapses in grammar and spelling. 3- Essay is loosely focused on topic. Research offers minimal or insufficient discussion of evidence, or leaves parts of topic unexplored. Paper contains minor lapses in grammar and spelling. 4- Essay focuses on research topic. Research offers sufficient evidence, and thoroughly discusses topic. Paper is free of errors in grammar and spelling 5- Essay focuses on research topic. Research offers plentiful evidence and thoroughly discusses topic. Paper is free of errors in grammar and spelling 6- Essay focuses on research topic. Research offers novel evidence and thoroughly discusses topic. Paper is free of errors in grammar and spelling 7- Essay focuses on research topic in an insightful way. Research offers novel evidence, and shows off researched information. Paper is free of errors in grammar and spelling 8- Essay focuses on research topic in an insightful and sophisticated way. Research offers significant evidence, and shows off researched information. Paper is free of errors in grammar and spelling. 9- Essay focuses on research topic in an insightful and sophisticated way. Research offers significant evidence, and shows off researched information.
