Fine Arts Program rated Recognized The Mighty Faulk Hawk Honors Band earned an Excellent Rating at the Rio Grand Festival The Honors Band earned an Excellent Rating at the Donna Band Festival The Honors Band earned Excellent points at the American Classics Band competition in San Antonio. The Faulk Middle School Choir program continued it’s tradition of excellence throughout the 2013-2014 school year. Thirty-one students earned a Superior rating at Solo and Ensemble Contest in October. 4 students placed in the Region XXVIII Honor Choir, and 2 students placed in BISD All-City Choir. The Choir participated in several field trip activities. They performed at Brownsville’s Holiday Village and went Christmas caroling in December. They also took a San Antonio/Austin choir trip. They also had excellent reviews during their Fall, Christmas and Spring campus concerts. Art students participated in the JR VASE where they earned 8 medals and the BISD MS Art Show where they earned 11 ribbons before. Faulk MS Chess team participated in 12 chess tournaments. Faulk M.   3. Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Recognized 100% participation in Red Ribbon Week events. Get Moving Participation in the “Turkey Trot, Show the Trail Who’s the Boss.” Campus sponsored a Health Fair and a Blood Drive in April. 100% participation in Breakfast in a Classroom. Faulk M. S.

Community and Parental Involvement rated Exemplary Faulk M.S. participated in community service projects such as “Holiday Penny Wars”, NASA Science 4 Girls presentation, Exploration Station presentation, Organic Gardening classes and the Thanksgiving canned food drive. Faulk conducted activities that increased parent participation in meetings. Faulk M.S. welcomed an author of young adult literature, and an illustrator. Faulk M. S.

  5. 21st Century Workforce Development rated Recognized Students participated in career and college days or events. Faulk M. S.

  6. Second Language Acquisition Program Recognized ELL students were provided with cultural awareness experiences. ELL students in need of supplemental academic support were provided language tools to assist in development of the English language listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Faulk M. S.

  7. Digital Learning Environment rated Recognized Campus resources were aimed at supporting technology integration in instruction (smartboards, clickers, LCD projectors, I-pads, laptops, etc). Digital communication was supported between students, teachers, and parents (campus website, school messenger, email, etc). Faulk M. S.

  8. Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Exemplary At least 73% of at-risk students participated in accelerated instruction (after school tutorials, Saturday academies.) Less than 11% of Faulk M.S. students were retained in 2013. Faulk M. S.

  9. Gifted and Talented Program rated Exemplary All teachers assigned G/T identified students during the 2013-2014 school year participated in on-going training appropriate for G/T students. GT identified students participated in showcase opportunities (chess, history fair, science fair, UIL, etc). Faulk M. S.
