  1. The Treasure of Lemon Brown

  2. Monday - read story, p. 17-26 • What is the setting? How does the place affect the plot of the story? Why does this have to be the setting for the story to work? • In the beginning, what is Greg’s problem? What is his immediate solution? • Who are three people with whom Greg has conflict? *All answers must be in complete sentences, with capitals and periods!

  3. Tuesday Copy the chart on your paper and fill in the empty boxes.

  4. Wednesday • Close read the copy of page 25. Highlight, circle, and or write on it to understand Lemon’s life story. • Use your notes to write a paragraph (at least 7 complete sentences) to tell Lemon’s story in your own words. Make inferences to decide how Lemon became homeless. Your paragraph should end with him being in the abandoned building. • First sentence should tell that the paragraph is going to be about Lemon Brown’s life. (Example: Lemon Brown had a tragic life. Or Lemon Brown had an eventful but sad life.) • Last sentence should wrap up the paragraph, again making sure we know it was about Lemon Brown’s life. (Example: All of these events created a tragic life for Lemon Brown. Or Although many events were sad, Lemon Brown led an eventful life.

  5. Thursday Three paragraphs (at least 5 sentences each): • What do you think is Lemon Brown’s treasure? Why? Give REAL SUPPORT from the story (examples and/or quotes). • What do you think is Greg’s treasure, whether he realizes it or not? Why? Give support from the story. • What is your treasure? Why? **Treasure does not have to be something you can hold in your hand. It can be people as well. **Don’t forget to have a topic sentence (Lemon Brown’s treasure is…) for EACH paragraph, and a concluding sentence (wrap it up) for EACH paragraph (Lemon Brown treasured theses items.).
