What has FTA been doing? • SAFETEA-LU passed by Congress July 29, 2005 • SAFETEA-LU signed by President August 10, 2005 • Listening session held October 26, 2005 • Established FTA Regional Liaisons & FTA Working Group • Presenting at several interagency meetings (NTTC, ITA, IRRPCC, BIA) • Consulting with Federal Lands Highway Program Staff, Federal Highways Planning Staff, and TTAP Staff • Published two Federal Register notices & solicited public comment
Where is FTA now? • Consulting with tribes – April 4 & 7 at FTA Public Outreach Meetings in Denver and Kansas City • Soliciting public comment on proposed program until April 21, 2006 • Participating in FHWA IRR Roll-out Meetings in April and May • Madison, WI - Atlanta, GA • Phoenix, AZ - Albuquerque, NM • Seattle, WA - Gallup, NM - Tulsa, OK - Boston, MA • Working with RTAP and CTAA on technical assistance resources available for tribal transit programs
Where is FTA headed? • Public comment period until April 21st • Submit comments via the docket http://dms.dot.gov • Participate in FHWA IRR rollout meetings • Publish a Notice of Funding Availability soliciting proposals for FY 2006 available funds • Evaluate and select proposals • Grant applications for selected projects • Award funds!
