  2. Advert 1 – LEGO Let’s Build This advert is about a boy and his dad. It tells us about how they build their own imaginary world out of LEGO. It is the place that they bond the best and get along well. Although it mentions them not getting along over some things, the product makes them over look this and be best friends again.

  3. Advert 1 - Audience This advert is aimed at mostly the male gender. We know this because the only two characters in the advert are male, and there is the stereotype that males are good at construction; and LEGO is a construction toy. The age would be mostly for parents, dads in particular, because it shows that if you and your son play with LEGO together, then you will get along great and love each other more, etc. so you should buy your child LEGO.

  4. Advert 1 - Format The format of this advert is a Product image advert. The image here is the boy and the father being a team and working together to create their own world and a strong bond between them. It shows a bit of everyday life, like when they don’t get along, but the main image is of the boy and his relationship with his dad. From the boy’s perspective. Also the product is being shown through-out, so you get visual evidence of this too.

  5. Advert 1 - Structure The structure for this advert is a linear narrative because the story has a beginning, middle and end. The beginning is the boy introducing his dad and himself as a team, the middle is them not agreeing on everything, and the ending is of them still being best friends and using the slogan “Let’s build” to grab the audiences attention.

  6. Advert 1 – Own Version For the version that my group and I produced of the product image advert, we used headphones to promote the idea of escaping from the college lifestyle. We did this by having a person looking sad at the amount of noise that was going on in the background. We also used the step-step-lead technique to grab the audiences attention and try to get them to say ‘yes’ to buying our product. So when the person finds the headphones in the advert, they put them on, and then everything is great again.

  7. Advert 2 – Just Eat This advert is about a tummy that is hungry, and the other character, brain, is trying to find him something to eat. And rather than cooking him something, he’s smart and goes to Just Eat.com to find belly some food. When the food arrives it crushes him, this is a pack cut because it shows off the logo for the company. But there is a commentary running through the advert which describes the situation at hand and how the problem is solved. http://www.tellyads.com/show_movie.php?filename=TA14422

  8. Advert 2 - Audience This advert is aimed at adults that don’t want to cook. So mostly busy people, or people who just fancy a takeaway. We know this because you have to be an adult to order things online legally, and the food choices that were mentioned in the advert were things that children most likely wouldn’t ask for if their parents didn’t suggest it. Also the advert is for people that don’t have much time because the advert suggests that if you’re hungry, then you should go to their site because they are quick and efficient and will get you your food quickly.

  9. Advert 2 - Format The format for this advert is personalised format because there is a problem that needs to be fixed. This advert is different to the product image advert because the product helps fix something, rather than just providing a nice idea for the audience to absorb. It just shows the product in a more practical way. The problem that needed to be fixed in this advert was the fact that the tummy was hungry and couldn’t decide what food it wanted to eat. So brain went online to Just Eat and ordered him some food to cure his hunger. Solving the problem.

  10. Advert 2 - Structure The structure for this advert is similar to the other advert. They both have a linear structure, but this advert is a non-realist. This means that it isn’t very believable because we all know that tummy’s and brains aren’t able to walk around and order things online. Whereas the other advert was realist because it was a potential real life situation where a human boy and his dad play with LEGO together, a much more believable story.

  11. Advert 2 – Own Version For the advert that my group produced for the personalised format advert, we used Angel cakes with the solution that they give you energy. The problem was that the person was low on energy, so ate some cake and got loads of energy and runs up some stairs to prove it. This isn’t much different from the Just Eat advert, but there wasn’t a commentary running through my advert, we tried to show what was going on without the use of a narration.

  12. Overall Comparison of Two Adverts A personalised format advert and a product image advert are different because the format advert is about how the product accomplishes something – so is practical, and the image advert is about associating an idea with the product. So the personalised format advert is trying to convince you that their product is useful and could help you out in a hard situation, and the product image advert is trying to convince you that you can feel a certain way if you use this product. So one appeals to practicality and the other appeals to whatever the audience wants to feel or desires.

  13. My Pitch – Comfy Clothing Company For my advert I would like to create a product lifestyle advert for a brand that I’ve created called the Comfy Clothing Company. This advert will show lots of different people wearing clothes and looking very happy because they are comfortable with what they’re wearing. This advert will feature lots of close ups of the different clothes and characters interacting with each other to give it a social vibe, like lots of people would shop with us. There will be a little voice over that might contain a few persuasive elements, but narration will be minimal because the main focus is going to be on the product and how it goes down in every day life.

  14. My Pitch – Persuasion My advert will persuade my audience into buying the clothes because they will look tasteful and comfortable, and I don’t mean loads of people in trackies, it will be classy and aimed at teenagers because the advert will be shot at college. This will mean that there will be a lot of different people that I can film and all of the clothes that they will be wearing will be for the right age range. If this advert were to be aired on television, the it could be shown before watershed as it wont contain anything that could be classed as inappropriate for the U certification. This would also be shown on channels that teenagers might watch, for example 4 Music, MTV, E4, BBC 3 etc. overall the persuasive techniques will be to be comfortable with yourself, if you see loads of people looking comfortable in these clothes on the telly, then you subconsciously may believe that you could feel the same, and go and buy the product.
