  1. Living in the flow of God’s Living Water John 7:38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'"

  2. Ezekiel 47:1-12 • The man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple towards the east (for the temple faced east). The waterwas coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. He then brought me out through the north gate and led me round the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was flowing from the south side. As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in–a river that no-one could cross. He asked me, "Son of man, do you see this?"

  3. Then he led me back to the bank of the river. When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. He said to me, "This water flows towards the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Sea. When it empties into the Sea, the water there becomes fresh. Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds–like the fish of the Great Sea. But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt. Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."

  4. Stagnant or counterfeit? • Jer 2:13 "For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns That can hold no water. • Isaiah 59:19 • When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. (KJV)

  5. Obedience the key! • Luke 6:47-48 • I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When the flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

  6. Hearing His Voice • John 10:3 • The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. • Isaiah 30:21 • Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

  7. Recognise the best circumstances to hear. • Psalm 46:10 • "Be still, and know that I am God… • 1 Kings 19:12-13 • After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

  8. Just hearing is dangerous! • James 1:22-25 • Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it; he will be blessed in what he does. • Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword… • 1 Pet 1:23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

  9. It is not difficult. It is very beneficial • Isaiah 66:2b • "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word. • 1 John 5:2-4 • This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

  10. Other words of life! • Ps 36:9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. • Prov 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. • Prov 13:14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death. • Prov 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death. • Prov 16:22 Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, But the discipline of fools is folly.

  11. A wonderful place to dwell ! • Psalm 46:4-5 • There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

  12. BUT It is meant to be shared • 2 Kings 2:19-22 • The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive." "Bring me a new bowl," he said, "and put salt in it." So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the Lord says: 'I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.' " And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.

  13. It is His eternal purpose • Zechariah 14:4 • On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. • Zechariah 14:8-9 • On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter. The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and His name the only name.
