Introduction • Current Conditions • There have been many changes at the state level • New rules and restrictions • Smaller BWDB - more engaged individuals • Possible dismantling of local one-stop system • Broward County online ads increased by nearly 24% to 23,430 over September 2011
WF1 - Goals • The BWDB has adopted the goals below • Increase the sustainability of the workforce system • Maintain our roles as workforce development leaders • Employer and job seekers choose the one-stop for services • Adjust services to maximize employment and training opportunities for targeted populations • The milestones support one or more of our goals
New Funds • Local and State grants awarded: • Facilitated 5 State Incumbent Worker Training grants totaling $114,511 assisting 72 employees • Coordinated 2 Quick Response Training Grants totaling $544,791 for 488 employees • New Unrestricted Revenue: • $280,610 since the Ticket to Work Program inception • $1,350 - Ready to Work Program
New Funds • WF1 Received: • $42,751 two year grant to serve customers with disabilities • $1.66 million from CSC and the City of Ft. Lauderdale for the summer youth program • $2,915,638 added to our $24,307,828 PY 11-12 formula allocation totaling $27,223,466 • $600,000 - 3 year grant to provide entrepreneurial training through the Business Advocacy and Self-Employment Consortium Grant

Technology Improvements • Internal Technology Improvements • Designed a self-service Electronic Sign-in System for customers to reduce wait and improve customer flow • Implemented an on-line Soft Skills training for customers after hearing the voice of the employer • Created an additional computer lab at the North One-stop to meet the customers needs • Upgraded the servers at each one-stop center to improve the speed and performance • Over 21,000 people viewed online orientations last program year
Technology Improvements • External Technology Improvements • Made wireless access available in each of the one-stop centers for employer recruitments • Per board policy donated 222 computers to youth in our programs to address the digital divide
Monitoring • State program monitoring .08% error rate • State fiscal monitoring • Resulted in no findings after resolving the “Letter of Credit” as a non interest transaction • THLW program monitoring findings decreased 31% from the previous year • THLW fiscal monitoring findings decreased 53% from the previous year

Program Highlights • State’s PY 11-12 year end report • WF1 exceeded performance • 99.4% WIA Entered Employment Rate for Adults and Dislocated Workers • 93.4% Out-of-School Youth Outcome Rate • 54.9% WTP All Family Participation Rate (State Goal = 50%) • WF1 Quality Assurance Surveys • 99% customer satisfaction with those who participated in our workshops • 91% satisfaction with the WF1 website • 9.6 rating out of 10 for customer exit satisfaction
ProgramHighlights #2 out of 130 workforce Employment Networks in the nation 1 of 5 workforce Employment Networks in the nation that had over 200 Tickets assigned #2 in the “Big 7” for All Family and 2-Parent Participation Rate Completed the required 8,198 REA assessments and volunteered to help the State meet their REA Grant goal by conducting an additional 2,149 assessments #1 in the state for Entered Employment # 3 in the “Big 7” for PY 11-12 behind 2 regions with military bases Ticket to Work WTP REA SNAP Veterans
2011/12 Awards/Achievements • Mason Jackson selected by the Florida Economic Development Council as the 2012 Toni Jennings Workforce Development Professional of the Year. • Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Governor’s Council Award • Susan Leventhal received the FWDA Workforce Development Champion in 2011 • Mentored 5 workforce boards in the Ticket To Work/Disability Navigator Program • 13 internal promotions, retaining high performing staff

Services Provided PY 11-12 • 141,754 distinct customers serviced • 4.8 % decrease from the previous year • 262,197 customer visits • Provided 2,103,769 services to job seekers • Provided 394,979 referrals to job orders - a 15.1% increase over last year • Provided 54,782 services to over 5,396 employers • Provided OJTs to 182 employers and 357 job seekers • Provided Work Experience opportunities to 128 long term unemployed workers
Services Provided PY 11-12 • Served 259 Ticket to Work participants - 17% increase over last year • 1,658 participants awarded ITAs • 15,000 participants attended our workshops • Provided Rapid Response services to 22 employers and 2,695 individuals • 153 placements as a result of mass recruitments for Burlington, Marshalls, Hilton, Winn Dixie, and Saveology • EUC able to immediately ramp up 6 days after receiving notice that the program was imposing new mandatory requirements on applicants.
Services Provided PY 11-12 • Implemented Summer Youth Employment • 1,024 youth were placed with 65 Employers at 335 worksites • 90% of participants completed the program • 98% of employers rated SYEP as ‘Very Satisfied/Satisfied’ • 95% of youth rated the 3-day Orientation conducted ‘Very Satisfied/Satisfied’
