The Fall 2007 MEAP results for grades 3-9 show varied performance compared to state averages. Key findings include declines in English Language Arts (ELA) and Reading for several grades, while Writing and Math showed notable improvements in certain grades. Fourth grade Writing and Sixth grade Math identified as areas needing attention. A proactive plan is underway to address these gaps through targeted learning objectives, formative assessments, and the establishment of SMART goals over a five-year period (2008-2013) as part of continuous school improvement.

Where are we going from here? • During curriculum days, teachers identify those content expectations for a subject area that are below AYP or what the curriculum committee identifies as proficient. • Those content expectations that fall below the AYP goal are unpacked and learning targets are created. • Once learning targets are created, grade level formative and summative assessments will be created and implemented. • This is a 5 year process - 2008-2013 • As a part of the school improvement process, buildings are also identifying areas of need and creating SMART goals.
