On October 11, 2023, organizations gathered for the inaugural meeting of the ESAR RIATT focused on key objectives such as agreeing on terms of reference, reviewing the current situation, and identifying essential tasks for effective coordination in the region. Priority actions were emphasized, including social marketing of OVC tools, organizing a regional OVC trends conference for 2008, and enhancing finance and resource tracking systems. Advocacy, social protection, and research innovations were underscored as vital areas for enhancing responses to children's needs in Africa.

TOR for ESAR RIATT • Define priority roles for civil society, UN, Private Sector, and donors in support of common regional goals identified by continental and regional institutions (IGOs/RECs) for accelerated implementation at country level • Support operational research that stimulates a regional dialogue as well as provides insight for an scaled-up response for children • Define common technical support tasks for regional responses that support national priorities
