  5. LHC • If not done or postponed • Someunstable areas (ex sector 78, LSS6R) • Degradation of the alignment • In V of 0.05 mm r.m.s over 1 year (fromstatisticsof all sectors) • In H of0.12 mm r.m.s over 1year (statistics on twosectorsonly) • They have not been measuredsince 2008 (if not done in LS1 itwillbe in 2018) • In 2018 : 0.12*sqrt(10) = 0.37 rms • 1 magnet over 100 couldbeat > 1.2mm LS1 day, 12 June 2012

  6. LHC • Survey and realignment of all components in the LSS • goal • To smooth the junctionbetween the DS and the LSS • To ensure a betterlinkbetweenbothsides of the IPs • To realign all «intermediate» components • In tilt and H • constraints • Couldbeat warm temperature • Asap (Fromjanuary-february 2013) • 1 month/1 team/LSS • Duct to beusedagainst air current • If not done or postponed • badconnectionof the magnets of Arcs and DS and LSS • More difficult for operation LS1 day, 12 June 2012

  7. LHC • Maintenance of lowbeta quadrupoles monitoring • Goal • Installation of loadsensors in PT8 • Installation of devices in order to check remotely the good functioning of permanent monitoring systems (HLS, WPS sensors) • If not done or postponed • Risk of major uncontrolled movement of a low beta quad during realignment (it was the case in 2011 on IR5R) • frequent intervention in tunnel in a future radioactive area LS1 day, 12 June 2012

  12. TI2 • Horizontal survey and realignment of the quads • Improve relative position of quads • 1 month/1team • Hope mvtwillbesosmallthat the others components will not have to berealigned • If not done or postponed • Degradation(quads have not been measuredsince the first alignment/smoothing in 2006-2007) • More difficult to injectintoLHC LS1 day, 12 June 2012

  13. TI8 • Tilt, Vertical and H survey and realignment of all components • Goal : To improve the alignment in thisveryunstable area • A tilt and vertical surveyisdoneateachwinterTS • Last year 80% of the quads wererealigned in T and V • This year H measurementsweredoneat the bottom of the line > displacements of 2 mm found • Estimated time : 5 months/1 team • If not done or postponed • Important Degradationof alignment • More difficult to injectinto LHC LS1 day, 12 June 2012
