The Legacy of the Yalta Conference: A New World Order Post-World War II

The Yalta Conference in 1945 brought together Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt to shape post-war Europe. Stalin sought a buffer zone to protect the Soviet Union from Germany, while Roosevelt pushed for Soviet entry into the Pacific War, offering concessions. The conference laid the groundwork for the United Nations to maintain peace and manage international relations. Following the war, the defeat of the Axis Powers marked the beginning of the Cold War, the onset of the Nuclear Age, and a divided Germany shaping global politics. The Marshall Plan aimed to rebuild Europe amid tensions and prevent the spread of communism.
