Main Changes 03 September 2013 • Teachers Main Scale • The main and upper pay scales replaced by two pay ranges with maximum and minimum pay points • Leading Practitioner • Removal of Advanced Skills Teacher and Excellent Teacher for School Workforce 2014 • Performance related pay for teachers • Removal of annual progression • Pay progression from September 2014 determined by performance appraisal

  4. Teachers Main Scales • Will not appear in SIMS until the Spring 2014 release • No longer possible to produce and share definition files

  8. Performance Related Pay Decisions about teachers’ pay progression will be linked to performance, with the first of these awards to be made in September 2014

  10. Performance Related Pay Assessment of performance may be based on evidence from a range of sources, for example, self-assessment, peer review, tracking pupil progress, lesson observations, the views of pupils and parents Schools must have an appraisal policy for teachers

  13. Enhancements to Personnel Staff can maintain their own records of CPD • Professional Details tab • Was only for formal off site training but can now: • Record any ad hoc and self directed CPD • Store evidence attached to the DMS • Be accessed by the staff member to maintain own CPD records

Enhancements to Personnel The system can manage the whole staff appraisal process • New Appraisals tab • Manages collaboration on the whole appraisal process • Elements available to appraiser and appraise as appropriate • Management of Lesson Observation records • OFSTED grading adopted but can be changed • Can add evidence to DMS • Typed • Scanned • Image and Video • Record progression outcomes

  17. Permissions (System Manager) • SP Manager • SP Line Manager • SP Appraiser • SP Staff • In addition to these new permission groups, the Personnel Officer, School Administrator and System Manager can configure the setups, the line management structure and define lookups.

  19. Appraisal Periods • Appraisal periods are the timeframe for when appraisal related activities take place during the academic year

  20. Whole School Objectives • Whole school objectives (usually taken from the school development plan) can be added, allowing individual staff objectives to be linked with the school objectives. This allows reporting on the progress of the school against these objectives.

Professional Standards • Professional standards are the criteria against which various groups of staff can be assessed • Multiple sets of standards can be created and associated with members of staff • Teacher Standards (already present) • NQT standards • support staff standards • school defined generic competencies

  26. Option for all staff to access the system - CPD • SIMS can be used by all staff to record and report on all forms of CPD, helping to ensure that all CPD is captured • both formal and informal CPD, which can be linked as evidence towards an objective
