  1. Soccer and how it influenced my life and the life of others. Vince Militello

  2. My Dad • My dad went pro at 16 • 2x All-American • Athlete of the year 1986 • Kept me motivated to be better • He has always coached me

  3. My Life involving soccer • I've played sports my whole life but when I got into middle school, I decided to do other things. It took me away from that free feeling of running around and not having to worry. Just go play.

  4. My Family • My dad was born into a half Mexican, half Italian family. Two big soccer oriented nationalities. He grew up with a ball at his feet. I was more into football than soccer but that’s because I am more aggressive than my dad is.

  5. Turning Point • I didn’t commit to playing competitive soccer until I was a freshman in high school. But when I did I feel like I excelled only because I have soccer running through my veins. When I play it feels like that’s where I belong.

  6. I didn’t realize the effect that soccer had on the rest of the world. When I play I used to think I was the only one that felt like nothing else mattered but as time went on I found out that soccer is more than players acting hurt and chasing a ball around.

  7. The U.S. wasn’t interested in soccer until the early 90s. The MLS was founded in 1993. We have always loved football. I'm not going to lie, I used to think soccer was a sport where all you did was chase the ball until I watched my first European game. I instantly fell in love with the way the game flowed and how precise the players passes and shots were. It began to motivate me every time I watched a game.

  8. The more I surrounded myself with soccer and the passion for it, it opened up my eyes to the world. In certain parts of Africa kids will take the shirt off of their own backs and wrap them around old water bottles to make something they could kick around. Most people think that we should send them food and water and that sending them a stupid thing such as soccer balls would be un heard of, but people don’t understand that it sends them hope because now they have something to play together.

  9. Escobar and Escobar • This story really stood out to me because it tells the passion and love for the game but also tragedy, greed and shattered hope for a nation. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHzixowbbYU
