Overview of CDIS Functionalities and Reference Model for TV White Space Management

This document presents a comprehensive discussion prepared for IEEE 802.19, focusing on the functionalities of the Centralized Device Interface System (CDIS) in managing TV White Spaces (TVWS). Key components include the Coexistence Whitespace Map (CWM), Master Control Manager (CM) selection, and the formulation of coexistence contours for efficient spectrum sharing among different networks. The proposal aims to solve coexistence problems, facilitate frequency resource sharing, and enhance communication efficiency. This information is crucial for developing standard frameworks for TVWS applications.

  2. Abstract • This presentation based on LG Proposal on the system description clause and reference model clause • In this presentation, We suggest additional functional roles of CDIS; Coexistence Whitespace Map(CWM), Master CM Selection and its reference model Junho Jo/Jihyun Lee, LG Electronics

  4. CDIS functionalities • Centralized resource (spectrum) manager • Control CMs/operators in management related to TVWS coexistence • Get information from TVWS DB • Available TVWS channel set at specific geological points • Computes Coexistence contour • Especially for neighbor discovery between different systems willing to operate on TVWS • MakesCoexistence Whitespace Map (CWM) • For efficient frequency resource sharing between different systems • Master CM Selection • To solve coexistence problems and reduce communication overhead between CMs Junho Jo/Jihyun Lee, LG Electronics

  5. Coexistence Contour • To discover neighbor systems, computes coexistence contour between different systems/networks willing to operate on TVWS • Calculated by CDIS identifying neighbor network devices for coexistence • Coexistence contour will be decided by its own each network’s TX power, other physical parameters and propagation models that might be considered simultaneously Junho Jo/Jihyun Lee, LG Electronics

  6. Coexistence Whitespace Map(CWM) • Channel allocation by CDIS • Each representative of networks/devices is connected to CDIS making the information of each open to public • CWM from CDISto each CM’s TVWS DB CDIS CM1 CWM CM2 Junho Jo/Jihyun Lee, LG Electronics

  7. Master CM Selection • To solve coexistence problems and reduce communication overhead between CMs • Master CM serves all the neighboring networks • CDIS selects master CM and notifies information to CMs Junho Jo/Jihyun Lee, LG Electronics

  8. Reference model • COEX_NET_SAP • Support COEX information and message with the remote 19.1 Entity. It may support interface B1, B2, B3, C, D • COEX_LINK_SAP • Media dependent interface of COEX function with the lower layers of the media specific protocol stacks. It may support interface A Junho Jo/Jihyun Lee, LG Electronics

  9. Conclusion • In this presentation, we review our proposal on system description and reference model • Our proposal focus on CDIS functionalities • Coexistence Whitespace Map(CWM) • Master CM Selection • Design reference model Junho Jo/Jihyun Lee, LG Electronics
