  2. What is a Brownfield? Brownfield sites are abandoned or underused industrial and commercial facilities available for re-use. Expansion or redevelopment of such a facility may be complicated by real or perceived environmental contaminations

  3. Texaco station • This Brownfield location is in Ridgefield, its on 60 wilton road. The Texaco station was built in 1950 and the gas leaks contaminated the ground around it so it had to be closed. The gas leak was coming from an underground storage tank. It was originally used for gasoline and filling up cars. Gasoline was present at the site and contaminated the ground around it.

  4. What danger are there and what is being done to clean the site? • These chemicals danger the health of people that go near this old station because it seeps in the ground ad into streams. Nothing is being done currently because the site is useless unless it was cleaned. The site is not being used as anything

  5. Variables • If an experiment were to be held at the Texaco station the amount of gasoline in the ground would be measured by digging up soil in various parts of the land and measuring the pH level of each sample • Independent- location of where the soil is dug up • Dependent- the pH of the soil tested

  6. pH tester
