  1. WALT: UNDERSTAND WORDS AND PHRASES FOR WEATHER IN FRENCH WILF: TO BE ABLE TO RECOGNISE 8 WEATHER PHRASES FOR LEVEL 2. TO BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND A SHORT WEATHER REPORT FOR LEVEL 3. TO BE ABLE TO WRITE A SHORT WEATHER REPORT IN FRENCH FOR LEVEL 3.

  2. Write the date in French and copy the following title in to your exercise books… “LA MÉTÉO” Now write the following question…. “QUEL TEMPS FAIT-IL?” = “WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?” THE FOLLOWING SLIDES WILL SHOW YOU THE PHRASES TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION IN FRENCH…

  3. COPY THE FOLLOWING 8 WEATHER PHRASES INTO YOUR BOOKS. WRITE THE MEANING IN ENGLISH AS WELL. THE PICTURES WILL HELP YOU WORK THEM OUT. THE FIRST ONE HAS BEEN DONE FOR YOU AS AN EXAMPLE. LEAVE SOME ROOM TO DRAW YOUR OWN PICTURES TO GO WITH EACH PHRASE. “IL PLEUT” = “IT IS RAINING”

  5. Read the weather report. Work out what the weather is like in the 5 regions of France. You will need to use the compass points provided to help you. Write the numbers 1 to 5 and write your answers in English. (“Les Alpes” = “The Alps”. If you are not sure what this is, look it up on google.) 5 correct = Level 3a 4 correct = Level 3b 3 correct = Level 3c 2 correct = Level 2a 1 correct = Level 2b

  6. WRITING TASK: Using the weather report from the previous reading exercise, write a weather report in French based on the weather map below.

  7. Extension Task: Click on the link below to visit the official website for weather in France. Have a look around. Which words do you recognise? Are there any new words that you have understood?
