  1. Using the thesaurus on your desk, find three “new” terms that describe YOU. Put them in sentences that support/explain “why” or “how” the term describes you.

  2. Connotative: The emotional implications and associations that a word may carry, in contrast to its denotative meanings..Denotative: The direct or dictionary meaning of a word, the literal meaning, in contrast to its figurative or associated meanings

  3. Denotation.  The dictionary meaning of a word.  The literal meaning of a word.Connotation.  The emotional or cultural meaning attached to a word.

  4. Examples: The words home, house, residence and dwelling all have the same denotation, but the connotation of each word is very different.

Connotation is that fight is more simpler and more about two people that can just be arguing and not fighting physically. Brawl is everyone fighting at the same time physically.

Hungry also has connotative meaning because when you’re hungry, you don’t only want food but there may be a situation where you are hungry for knowledge or the hunger for sleep.
