  1. Mother’s Day Makeup Tips For Women Over 40 It’s that time of year again when you’re reminded with just how much you’ve been through for your kids. From waking up at 6 am to drop them off to school, to crying like a baby at their graduation, mother’s day is that one time of year when you’re really reminded and appreciated for being a mother. The last thing you need on that day is to look older than you really are. For years women have been putting on excessive makeup thinking it would make them look younger, and men have implied that they like the “au naturel” look much better (despite flirting with that 20 year old waitress, dripping lip gloss from her lips!). When we don’t wear makeup, they think we look tired or assume we had a bad day at work, and when we do they think it’s too “Barbie”. Well, here’s how you can wear makeup, look natural, and take YEARS off your face. Cleanse and Tone: These are two of the three pillars of getting perfect skin. Cleansing can be done by a weekly exfoliation and daily wash, while toning by a face toner must be done daily. Applying makeup on dull, flaky skin will just look like dirt.

  2. Moisturize: The third pillar. Moisturizing helps makeup blend with your skin well. I prefer tinted moisturizers because they kind of serve the purpose of foundation too. The best moisturizer you can buy is one that is tinted; oil free, alcohol free, and with an SPF of at least 30. Eyeliner: It’s been in our culture for ages and it beautifully outlines the eyes. To stop your kohl from running, apply Talc powder on your dark circles (which will also cover up the darkness) and make sure you stay away from the corners. Blush: With a fish like face, high light your cheek bones with a nude pink/ peach blusher. Even if you think you don’t have much on, with a tissue paper, wipe off all the extras in three gentle strokes over the cheek bones. Lip Balm: NOT gloss. Lip balm is a perfect way to prevent your lips from ageing, cracking, and chapping. Lip balm that doesn’t have glitter or shine is easy to wear everyday even if it has a slight tint of colour. Eyebrow powder: The keyword here is Powder and NOT pencil. Eyebrow pencils makes your eyebrow hair shed. Don’t go crazy with the powder, apply a really thin layer (as if it’s not there) of powder on the arches and the ends. Try to stay away from the nose bridge end, this part is really hard to master and if done badly, can make you look like you’re trying too hard. Remember, the key to looking good is feeling good!
