  1. “Final” QA Procedures Richard Bates see: “http://www-ucjf.troja.mff.cuni.cz/~sct/QA/”

  2. Contents • Hybrids • QA during module assembly • QA of completed module • Sampling QA on completed module • Re-work • QA organisation • Definition of electrical tests

  3. Hybrids • Tests done at vendor/procurement institute • Confirmation sequence with ASICs • Electrical tests of hybrid at hybrid testing site • @RAL Confirmation sequence • Long term (burn-in) • 90 hours at 55°C • powered, clocked , configured and triggered at100kHz • 500V on HV line • every few hours hybrid tested • Final electrical tests @10°C Results to database

  4. During Module Assemble • Hybrid reception test - Confirmation sequence • Detectors glued to spine • IV detector to 450V • @20°C, 350V • I increase per detector < 1mAthan before • I<20mA • Modules - XY metrology survey at 20°C • Failed wire bonding recorded (ASIC - detector)

  5. Of completed moduleinc wire bonding • IV • Vmax=450V, ΔV=10V, T=20°C • I increase<4mA than that recorded before • I<24mA@150V & I<80mA @350V • Thermal cycling • Electrically disconnected • 10 cycles of -30°C -> 50°C -> -30°C • ramp = 2-3°C /minute; 30minutes at -30°C & 50°C

  6. Final Metrology Survey at 20°C • Second IV • Long-term leakage current stability • 24hours; HV @150V; T=105°C • powered, clocked , configured and triggered at 100kHz • ΔI<4mA • Module electrical confirmation tests • Long-term electrical stability • same conditions as above • Confirmation sequence every few hours • Final FULL electrical characterisation tests • Results stored in the database

  7. Sampling on completed modules • Irradiation tests • 10/year • 24GeV/c; 3x1014 protons/cm2; 7 day 25°C anneal • Readout performance tests • Laser tests • One module per production site • Source tests • test S/N for different batches of ASIC’s • Beam tests at H8 • 6/year

  8. Re-work • Most re-work done at institute that diagnosed the failure

  9. QA organisation • Hybrid QA - RAL • Module QA - Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool • Site qualification • Check • Equipment and infrastructure • Documentation, operating instructions • Experience with a number of pre-production modules • Testing results compatible with other sites

  10. Definition of electrical tests
