  1. Segments, Rays, Parallel Lines, and Planes During this lesson, you will: • Identify segments and rays • Recognize parallel lines

  2. Vocabulary A segment is a part of a line consisting of two endpoints and all the points between them. A ray is a part of a line consisting of one endpoint and all the points of the line on one side of the endpoint. Opposite rays are two collinear rays with the same endpoint. They always form a line.

  3. H G E F C D B A Parallel lines are two or more coplanarlines that do not intersect. Symbol: || Skew lines are non coplanar lines. They are not || and do not intersect. Parallel planes are planes that do not intersect.

  4. B A AB and BA means segment AB. Naming Segments and Rays Segments are named by their endpoints with a bar on the top.

  5. AB AC BC C B A BA & BC A ray is named by its endpoint first, Alert! Two rays which have different endpoints and/or different direction are considered to be different rays. Alert!
