  5. Implications • Students with learning challenges may be unable to • understand the content delivered online • written, spoken, graphical, pictorial, etc. • understand directions • carry out tasks as expected • request support as needed • meet standards of achievement

  6. Discussion • What feedback are you receiving from teachers about how student’s challenges interfere with online learning?

  7. Principles of UDL • Multiple means of representation: Present information and content in different ways • Multiple means of action or expression: Differentiate the ways that students can express what they know • Multiple means of engagement: Stimulate interest and motivation for learning

  8. Discussion • In what ways are your schools translating the principles of UDL into practice?

A Framework Based on UDL • Learning goals maximize learning opportunities for all students, aligning with CCS • Practices, aligned with goals, are informed by the research • Assessment ongoing and summative, clearly measures student progress toward learning goals • Technology tools provide appropriate levels of challenge and support to maximize learning
