  3. Mission of The Rotary Foundation • The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, good will and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty.

  6. District MOU • Online qualification process • District agrees to implement: • Financial requirements • Stewardship requirements

District Elements of Qualification • District must: • Be responsible for use of funds for district-sponsored grants • Be responsible for a club-sponsored grant if necessary • Comply with MOU and all applicable TRF policies • Cooperate with financial, grant or operational audits • Qualification may be suspended

  8. Club Timeline • Attend the District Foundation Seminar • Appoint a club Rotary Foundation Committee Chair • Club Qualification • Attend Grants Management Seminar • Sign and Implement Memorandum of Understanding • Submit grant proposals

  9. Club Elements of Qualification • Club Memorandum of Understanding • Grants Management Seminar Attendance (1, 2 or more attendees?) • District-specific Requirements • Current on RI and District Dues? • Current on IRS reporting? • APF giving? • DDF award criteria? • Current on reporting?

District Grants • Single “block” grant awarded annually • Local or international activities, scholarships, volunteer service travel, disaster recovery • Activities align with TRF mission • Local decision making with broader guidelines • Smaller activities and projects • Sustainability not required

District Grants • Single “block” grant awarded annually • Local or international activities, scholarships, volunteer service travel, disaster recovery • Activities align with TRF mission • Provides for local decision making with broader guidelines • Smaller activities and projects • Sustainability not required

  15. District Grants – What happens when • Clubs and district identify projects • District submits spending plan via Member Access to TRF (before 15 May 2014) • TRF approves spending plan • Funds issued (not before 1 July 2013) • District disburses all funds • District sends final report to TRF • District manages stewardship of grant

  16. District Grants Spending Plan • Online application submitted by the district • Lists: • Project Description & Location (country) • Club • Amount of DDF requested • 20% can be contingency • 3% can be administrative expenses

  20. Global Grants - Humanitarian • Aligns with one or more areas of focus • Benefiting community identifies need • Benefiting community actively participates • Strengthens local knowledge, skills and resources • Sustainable • Measureable

  21. Global Grants - Scholars • Graduate level study • Field of study and professional goals further areas of focus • One to four years • Application timeline is shorter • Reference: Areas of Focus – Statement of Purpose and

  22. Global Grants – Vocational Training Teams • Builds skills in community or participants • Most beneficial when in conjunction with humanitarian project • Can be uni- or multi-vocational • Three or more members (Rotarian or non-Rotarian) • No restrictions on age or length of stay

  23. Global Grants – Measurability & Evaluation • Measurability part of application • What will be measured • How it will be measured • Detailed plan on measurement • Goals should be quantitative and qualitative • Provides information to the donors
