  2. Data Analysis for Student Learning Developed by the 23 Data Acquisition Sites (DA-Sites) and owned by the Management Council of the Ohio Educational Computer Network (MC-OECN). DA-Sites made the decision to pursue the development of DSL in April, 2000. First version was released October, 2000

Data Analysis for Student Learning • DSL combines data from various resources and loads them into a web based interface for easy access to data. • EMIS • SIS (Student Information System) • INFOhio • Photo companies (Lifetouch, Campus Portraits, etc) • Testing company data files (cd/diskettes) • Ohio Proficiency Tests • Ohio Off-Grade Proficiency Tests • Ohio Graduation Tests • Terra-Nova • Iowa Basic Skills • Stanford

  7. Preparing for the Proficiency Tests The test results page in DSL contains data from all the test results we have loaded from your district. There are currently 18 options under the test results page that are designed to assist your staff in preparing for the proficiency tests.

Evaluate Instructional Strategies • How effective was the previous year(s) instruction? • Did the change in curriculum or text books make a difference? • Did I over emphasize a previous weak area for my students? • Using the Test Results in DSL, you can study the impact of your instruction and changes made. Combining the data presented with your knowledge of the ability level of your students, alterations in your instruction, and other external factors, you can get a good idea of what is working and not working. Each subsequent year, you can refine your instruction then reevaluate the effectiveness of the changes made.

  15. Data Analysis for Student Learning • How do I get started? • Contact your local Security Administrator to get an account set up. • Your local Security Administrator is responsible for training. If they need assistance, MVECA will be glad to assist in training needs.
