    2. DÉFINITION DE LA PRÉPARATION : De façon générale, c’est la fonction de l’entreprise chargée de prévoir, définir et réaliser les conditions optimales d’exécution du travail. En maintenance, c’est la sous-fonction des « méthodes » ayant pour vocation « d’aide à l’intervention ». Pour une tâche donnée, la préparation consiste à définir les besoins et à éditer les documents opérationnels, comme l’illustre le graphe ci-joint :
