  1. Raquel Pereira My personal Presentation

  2. Some data about myself I’m 20 years old, and I’m portuguese and I’m a Psychology student. Some of the issues I’m most interested inare aging, family and sexuality. However, these are only some of the issues that I give attention, since I’ve always been very keen on social sciences. Futhermore, my most important hobby is music, as I study bel canto.

  3. My experience as volunteer… • …Is starting now! • Volunteering is something that interested me, but in which I’ve never been involved so far. • IP H.E.L.P is the first opportunity that I’ve engaged in. • Espaço 107/37 – A Project of the Portuguese Red Cross – is a new challenge that came a few months ago

  4. Espaço 107/37 • In respect of the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, this project aims to struggle against ageism and isolation. • Our contribution as volunteers is part of a educational program, with the purpose of promoting new meanings of citizenship.

  5. Client into crisis • This is the topic group I would like to work in during the project. • I haven't’ already experienced voluntary work related to these processes. • But adulthood is a stage of life that fascinates me, for the demanding obstacles that it presents, as well as some of the greatest life events. • And I believe that in this progressively individualistic society we live in, it’s even more important to create psychological and social support for people facing life difficulties and their families, so that they feel they’re not alone and there’s hope…

  6. A final word… • I believe that voluntary work is an important piece of social support, mostly because it’s a reciprocal benefit: not only for those who need help, but also for those who provide help and find their contribution as a reward in terms of personal well-being. • Indeed, I find volunteering as a special complement to the work engaged by professionals of social sciences. • I’m very grateful to be part of this project and I hope to learn more and give a contribution in order to find a more specific and significant place to volunteering.
