Why a Mediation Device? • Billing System needs to support one output format only. • Change in the Billing System does not affect all Network Interfaces. • Proprietary mediation solutions of Billing Systems often lack in terms of: • Algorithms (e.g. scheduling, network-failure Handling etc.). • Support of higher protocols (e.g. CMISE, RPC, etc.) • Reaction to market (time to market). • Support of different kinds of network elements. • Transparency. • The Mediation Device offers a uniform Access-Point for all Network Elements that could be used by other Systems, too (e.g. self-developed Clients etc.).
