  2. ADDING VALUE TO MY ORGANISATION The employee who answers the question: “how do I add value to my organisation?” effectively will have the best attitudes at work. He will: • Add value to his boss • Positively influence his peers and subordinates • Contribute across functions and departments • Have influence upwards

  3. ATTRIBUTES OF A SUCCESSFUL EMPLOYEE Add value to: • Your boss: go beyond the job description; be proactive and innovative. Deliver on your commitments and KPI’s. Be disciplined and diligent. • Your Colleagues: proactivelyoffering solutions to problems and taking responsibility for mistakes. Be a team player. Show interest in life of others. • Across functions and departments: build good relationships. Be flexible and versatile. Create solutions that others can use. • Your Subordinates: Be polite. Motivate, coach and inspire. Lead by example. • Upwards (the organisation): positive outlook and integrity. Regularly learn something new and implement it. Strive for excellence! –“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”. Proverbs 22:29.

  6. SEEING POSSIBILITIES • Don’t be intimidated by the successes of others. Don’t be deceived by the pessimism of your peers. “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”. Mark 9:23 • Ask your manager for training opportunities. Show interest in learning new skills and technologies. • Search the internet for developments in your field. Knowledge is power! • Read the career profile and success stories of other people. • Register with recognized groups and associations in your area of interest.   7. SEIZING POSSIBILITIES • Be diligent in your current job like Joseph. - “Until the time of his word came: the Lord tried him”.Psalm 105:19. • Don’t wait for opportunities; grab them! A good opportunity might be right in front of your eyes and you might not be able to see it. • The opportunities could be internal (e.g. training or growth within your company) or external (e.g. external training or a job at another company). Trust in the Lord. Let Him direct your steps. Proverbs 3:5-6 • Have a positive influence on your colleagues. Contribute significantly to the success of your employer and company.

Accept them gracefully and improve. • Go deeper with God. Encourage yourself with the word of God. Make prayer your secret weapon. • Build friendships. Partner with people who can help you. • Focus on the ultimate goal. “this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize…”. Philippians 4:13-14
