This report outlines the current performance and calibration status of the MVD pad detectors as discussed in our computing meeting on October 1, 2002. We have three functioning pad detectors with a low noise level and a signal-to-noise ratio of 45/4~11. We observed clear MIP signals and found that the mean ADC for single MIPs is consistent across channels pre-calibration. A discrepancy in dN/deta measurements suggests further study of vertex and centrality dependence is needed, along with background estimation through Monte Carlo simulations. Calibration constants are currently absent from the database.

MVD Pad Pedestal • Noise level of pad detector is low • Signal to noise ratio 45/4~11 • We have ~3 working pad detectors Computing meeting 10/1/2002
MVD Pad MIP Distribution • Clear MIP signal is seen for MVD pad detectors • ADC distribution corrected for incident angle shows Landau distribution as expected • Mean ADC for single MIP is almost the same for all channels even before gain calibration Computing meeting 10/1/2002
dN/deta from MVD pad detectors • To correct for ~20% larger dN/dEta compared to reports from other experiments, we need to study vertex and centrality dependence and background estimation using Monte Carlo. Computing meeting 10/1/2002
SOFTWARE STATUS • Pedestal and mip calibration constants are not in database : • Because of noise problem we are interested in mainly non-zero-suppressed runs (run number<~30,000), where ~3 pad detectors and 5~7 strip detectors were working (working detectors heavily depend on run numbers) Computing meeting 10/1/2002
