  5. ORIGINS

  6. Dulzaina -- It was built in Mesopotamia about 3000 years before Christ. -It was about to disappear in The Middle Ages as the Northern people imposed their own instruments. -they preferred horns,so many instruments with reeds disappeared.

  7. -Its first name was albogue, then chirimía, and finally dulzaina. -The first one was longer, between 50 y 60 cms long., but now it only has 30 a 40 cms long.

  8. -The Egyptian, Arabic and Assyrian civilizations,used to build drums with bourdons. -In the Medieval Europe the bourdons were used in the 1300 AD with an instrument called tabor. -It can also be called tamboril and tabalet -It is used for religious traditions and festivities Soundbox

  10. -The jota can be accompained with guitars, bandurrias ( a type of mandolins), lute and soundboxes. -The couple of dancers dance keeping their hands up with castañuelas. -The Castillian jota is danced with jumping steps., -The picaresque and sense of humor are two main features of the songs.

  13. Caja: -FRAME: It is a straight cylinder,made of wood and each type of wood produces a different tone. -DRUMHEAD: It is made of animal skin. -BOURDONS: It is a group of threads which go from one part to another of the frame
