Understanding the SIPTO Functionality for Traffic Offloading in Mobile Networks

This document outlines the workings of the SIPTO (Selective IP Traffic Offload) function, a crucial feature for mobile operators. SIPTO allows operators to offload specific traffic types at a network node closer to the user's point of attachment in the access network. It operates on a per-user, per-APN basis based on the operator's configuration of HSGW and user subscription data. The HSGW selects the appropriate gateways for SIPTO while ensuring there is no adverse impact on existing eFAP functionalities or the serving P-GW.
