  12. Under the hard layers of enamel and dentin... Enamel Dentin

  13. Pulp Tissue is soft tissue called pulp. Enamel Dentin

  14. The PULP is sometimes also called “The Nerve” of the tooth

  15. The pulp of the tooth can become sick and die, due to:1. Deep decay which required a deep filling or decay around an old filling. (internal scars)2. Deep Decay into the pulp.3. Trauma injures the tooth.

  16. When a tooth is damaged through scaring, decay or injury…

  17. Dying and Infected Pulp …the pulp become sick and begins to die and infected . Decay

  18. Damaged Pulp Abscess If left untreated,an abscess will form. Decay

  19. How do you know if the pulp of your tooth is damaged?

  20. Some Signs of damaged pulp: • Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold (often painful) • Sensitivity to biting pressure • Swelling and tenderness in the gums, or near the root of the tooth (abscess)

  21. Sometimes there areno symptoms. Some endodontic problems are only evident on an x-ray...

  22. During your treatment appointment the Doctor will review the specifics of YOUR INDIVIDUAL case If there are questions about the diagnosis we may do some additional tests or even schedule you for a specific time for EVALUATION.
