  1. Reasons to Work in the Mining Industry

  2. Most of the sought-after jobs these days are IT-related ones. You get to sit in front of the computer in an air-conditioned room doing tasks that don't require much muscle movement, only brain power. One of the best parts about IT-related jobs is that they generally pay well. If you're one of those who want to move out of the office environment for a change, you may want to check out a career in the mining industry.

  3. Most people who hear the "mining" part, they automatically think of sweaty shirtless men slaving away at a mountain side. Sure, the mining industry is not as glamorous as the other jobs, but there are a lot of reasons to consider entering the field.

  4. Let's be honest. The pay is the first thing you want to know, so let's get it out of the way. Yes, having a job in the mining industry means you'll be well-compensated. Your pay, however, depends on the role you find yourself in. There aren't just miners in the industry. There are clerks, IT managers, accountants, engineers, and a lot of the usual employees you find in any corporation. It's just that most of the employees are technicians and operators. While some companies aren't picky with whatever degree you've finished, most of them hire only those who have finished one. Either that or you're going to need some certification of vocational training. This is important if you're eyeing the more laborious positions such as mechanics and technicians. Pros

  5. The most prevalent cons of the mining industry revolve around high risks and health issues that come with those risks. If you find yourself in the field, then you'll be exposed to a variety of elements, both from weather and from what you're mining. Coal miners, for instance, tend to acquire lung ailments. Be wary of companies that use mining explosives. That is extremely high risk. Cons

  6. Other cons of having a job in the mining industry include working long shifts. It's like being a hospital nurse, really. You stay at work for sixteen hours every day. Sometimes, you get to work several weeks straight with only a couple of days off. In fact, these "overtimes" are the reason why you get paid exceedingly well. To close, here's some myth-debunking for you. If you think that the mining industry is full of testosterone, you couldn't have gotten it more wrong. There are a lot of women in the mining industry, with Australia having one of the most female employee population compared to the rest of the world.
