  2. Bio • (December 10, 1830 – May 15, 1886) • Born in Amherst Massachusetts • American poet • Known for her reluctance to greet guests • Later she would barely leave her room • Was known to where white clothing • Official cause of death Bright’s disease • She was buried in a white coffin

  3. Critics • Early critics if Dickinson during her life time paid little attention to her poetry. Upon the rediscovery of her poetry Conrad Aiken said quote “Perhaps the finest poetry by a woman in the English language” • Showing that although in her time few appreciated her poetry after her death she gained the much do fame she deserved.

  4. The Chariot The Chariot isn’t about a real chariot per say. This poem is about the inevitable fate that will eventually find us all. The journey we must go on to reach the after life. How death isn’t as scary as we all may think. The rhyme scheme is that the second and fourth lines in every stanza rhyme although the first and third do not.
