The Ultimate Delivery Pizza Showdown: Pizza Hut Takes the Crown

In our extensive taste test comparing four popular pizza chains—Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, and Papa John’s—we evaluated their offerings based on taste, price, calories, and crust. Ten participants from the University of North Texas blind-tasted the pizzas, rating each on a scale of 1 to 5. The results showed that Pizza Hut excelled in taste and earned the title of the best delivery pizza, closely followed by Papa John’s. While Little Caesars had the lowest price, its quality was lacking. Discover which pizza chain comes out on top!

  1. The Best Delivery Pizza By Alex Crider, Luis Briceno, Eric Campos, Jordan Essman

  2. Introduction There are several options when choosing a delivery pizza. We investigated the feasibility of four delivery pizza chains: Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, and Papa John’s. A taste test was given to ten participants consisted of four different pizzas. The participants were asked to rate overall taste, price, calories, and crust on a scale from 1-5, with 5 being the best and 1 being the worst.

  3. Methods for Evaluating • Taste • Price • Calories • Crust

  4. Methods Cont. • We conducted a blind taste test completed by students at the University of North Texas. • Each participant filled out a survey of the pizza. • The pizza was labeled Pizza A, B, C, and D. • The importance of the categories from most important to least important are taste, crust, price, and calories. • The price and calorie content were based off a medium cheese pizza

  5. Procedure • Created a survey for participants • Covered the pizza box and labeled it Pizza A, B, C, and D along with the price and calorie content • Set the pizzas on a table • Asked ten people to participate in the survey • The ten survey scores were averaged together for each section • The average sections were then averaged to determine the best overall pizza

  6. Results

  7. Pizza Hut • Price: Second Place @ $8.00 • Calories: Third Place @ 240 • Taste: First Place • Crust: Second Place

  8. Papa John’s • Price: Fourth Place @ $8.75 • Calories: First Place @ 210 • Taste: Second Place • Crust: Third Place

  11. Chart of Results

  12. Conclusion • The calorie content of the pizzas did not vary greatly but Papa John’s has the lowest count. • Little Caesars had the lowest price but also lowest rated taste, calories, and crust; thus proving you get what you pay for. • Pizza Hut was first place in the most important category of taste with Papa John’s being a close second. • Domino’s did not get great ratings in other categories but participants universally enjoyed the pizza’s crust.

  13. Recommendation • Pizza Hut appealed to the participants the best and was the winner. With Pizza Hut having the best taste rating and the second best crust and price, it is the best overall choice for delivery pizza.
