  1. Why is basketball an underfunded sport in Scotland?

  2. Brief • I shall be looking into the underfunding of basketball in Scotland. More so why is it underfunded, as it is a popular rising sport in Scottish youth and a world phenomenon. • I’ll hopefully ask players, coaches and possibly a member from basketball Scotland about their opinion and why they think it’s underfunded.

  3. Angle • The main focus of my story is to understand why Basketball, considered a popular sport with a rising interest in young people wanting to play the sport, is being underfunded, with the Olympic basketball team having it’s funding completely cut.

  4. Research • There are many articles from the guardian and daily mail that argue that funding should be given to basketball, instead of being taken away, as it’s funding has been completely cut from the 2016 Olympics. • There is an interest as all the players/coaches I know want funding back and would like to see more money put into the Scottish basketball scene.

  5. Story/Noah’s arc • Start- Either vox pops or recordings of people playing basketball, taking shots, passing the ball around. • Middle- Interviews- if there are contrasting opinions then I shall play them off each other. , narrator speech/script. • End- Sum up of the package by the narrator, perhaps have the interviewees sum up what they think or give a final argument for their view.

  6. Interviews and voxpop • I plan to interview my old basketball coach, A player from my team and a member of basketball scotland. • For vox pops I was going to ask members of the public if they believe sports in scotland are underfunded. • Record games to play at the start for effect, so balls being bounced, shots being taken.

  7. Music • R&B, house music, techno, something with a quick beat. To go with the sport.

  8. Target Audience Station is radio scotland, so a heavy male audience who enjoy sports. Sports based package so should work well with the target audience.
