  2. LEXILES The Lexile Framework® for Reading is a scientific approach to measuring a student’s reading ability and the difficulty level of reading materials. As the most widely adopted reading measure in use today, Lexiles are found in the reading and testing programs of states, school districts, and the U.S. Department of Education’s “America Reads” program. All students will be required to take a lexile test prior to being enrolled. If the student’s lexile is lower than the below levels; they will be expected to attend a Reading 180 class to improve their reading level. During this time, the student will be expected to work on electives in addition to their Reading 180 class. 3. Novelstars Curriculum • Educational Options is committed to providing students with the best web-based instructional products possible. All Stars Suite courses are created using a stringent, research-based development process that starts with a review of state academic standards to determine required learning outcomes. • Designed by a team of highly qualified educators, the Stars Suite features rigorous assessments, lessons, activities, and exams that are based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, ensuring that students employ all levels of critical thinking. The curriculum is regularly updated to meet the changing state and national standards.

  4. Grading Submissions are graded daily and student’s are provided with feedback: If the student does not receive 80% or higher on a submission, it will be returned for correction with suggestions from the teacher. The teacher will not give the specific questions missed, but will encourage the student to go back and research the lesson and submission to find which problems need to be corrected. Midterms and finals must be completed at 70% or higher prior to receiving a new class and are expected to be done at the E-lab or proctored by a local school staff member from your district. Students may use a maximum of two pages of notes for each test. Tests may only be redone once. If the student fails the test the second time, they will have to retake the entire class.
