Curriculum News • New Curriculum in Years 1, 3,4 and 5. • Curriculum has been mapped out to ensure consistency and progression, • Curriculum grouped into KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2. • Year group expectations for English and mathematics.
So how will it be assessed? • Levels are out (except for year 2 and year 6); • Government advice is for schools to develop their own assessment systems. • Assessment systems must be rigorous.
Why have an assessment system? • To monitor the children’s progress; • Enables interventions to be allocated effectively; • Enables us to make sure all children attaining the best they possibly can; • Helps us adjust our planning; • Enables us to inform parents easily; • Enables us to compare ourselves against other schools.
Target Tracker • This was system that seemed to suit our needs the best; • Training shared with North Baddesley; • First impressions very favourable.
How does it work? • Divides year group expectations into 6. • Beginning on band; • Beginning on band + • Working within band • Working within band+ • Secure • Secure + • http://www.youtube.com/user/targettrackerone
Formative Assessment • Teachers can highlight statements through the year (See statement example of TT) • Professional judgements can then be made as to overall step within the band (See summary of one pupil)
