  1. Update on English Learner Data Keric Ashley, Director Analysis, Measurement, and Accountability Reporting Division, CDE Cindy Kazanis, Director Educational Data Management Division, CDE

  2. Transition to CALPADS • Language Census (R-30) • Collected through the 2010–11 school year • Aggregate level by school. • Published annually on DataQuest • CALPADS • First collection in 2010–11 • Full collection in 2011–12 • Identifies individual students and the services received by course enrollment

  3. EL Service Data Collection

  4. Why Report at the Course Section Level? • Many SIS vendors and LEAs base services the student received on what the teacher was authorized to provide • Maintaining detailed information on specific services for each student and for each course is not a realistic option • Aggregate school level collection (the former R-30) did not provide information on how each LEA calculated services for each student

  5. Calculating Student Services • CALPADS reviews all course sections the student is enrolled in • Uses a formula to place the student in one of the following categories: • Primary Language Instruction and ELD Instruction and/or SDAIE Instruction • ELD Instruction Only • SDAIE Instruction Only • ELD Instruction and SDAIE Instruction But Not Primary Language Instruction • No Service Received at this School – this means no specified services are reported

  6. CALPADS Fall 2 Certification Reports

  7. CALPADS Aggregate Certification Report 2.4
