  3. Impulsions • Love to test the water to see how far I can push boundaries • Struggle to resist urges

  4. Compulsions • Rely on rituals to stabilise me if life is unstable- survival strategy? • If things are aligned physically then perhaps they will become alligned mentally • Aspergers Egg Whisk- Small problems can escalate

  5. Obsessions • Doctor Who obsession- highlighted my desperation to be free and to prove myself • Obsessions can change frequently

  6. Obsessions • Give outsiders a wonderful insight into the mindset of people with Aspergers • Obsessions are quite a useful tool • Indicator for career options?

  8. Getting Reactions • Having an impact on someone else’s life- perhaps gives a feeling of power or control?

  9. Socially Unacceptable Humour • Part of the desire to create a shocked reaction in others • Also provides laughter- which is a valuable tool

  10. Friends, Socialising and Communication

  11. Communication • Can dominate conversation • Awkward Silences- thankfully now less frequent • Learnt to express emotions effectively-which is a big issue for a person on the spectrum

  12. Socialising • Socialising is always stressful • However, it is possible for people on the spectrum to have a circle of friends

  13. Socialising • Good idea to have some time in the week where there is no pressure to socialise • Initiate solo time- almost build it into the diary

  14. Finding New Friends & Meeting New People • I had to be learn how to do this effectively • Strategies... • Was terrified of the prospect of going through the process again at University • Individualising life...
