  10. Does Rev. 20 prove Premillenialism?

  11. No! • Even if you take Rev. 20 literally, it doesn’t prove it because it doesn’t mention: • The Conversion of Israel • The antichrist • The Rapture • A bodily resurrection of the Saints • The Reign of Christ on earth • A throne in Jerusalem • Us • The 2nd Coming

  12. What Does Rev. 20 Teach? • That Satan Is Bound For 1000 Years (Rev. 20:1-3) • In a general sense, he began to be bound when Jesus was raised from the dead (Matt. 12:29; Eph. 4:8) • In Rev. 20, he is bound because he can’t deceive the nations anymore until the 1000 yrs. are over. Why? Because Rome and the Roman Empire have been destroyed. At the end of the 1000 yrs., he’ll be released from prison and will go forth to deceive the nations. • Are the 1000 yrs. literal? • No, they referred to a long period of time. 1000 (10x10x10) refers to the perfect reign of Christ.

  13. What Does Rev. 20 Teach? • Saints are Reigning for 1000 Years (Rev. 20:4-6) • Souls that had gone through the persecutions without failing.

  14. What Does Rev. 20 Teach? • What is the first resurrection? • Three views make sense. • It refers to our being raised with Christ in Baptism (Rom. 6:3-7) • It refers to the resurrection of the cause of Christ after it was seemingly obliterated by the Romans. • It refers to martyr’s going into the very present of Christ where they live and reign with Christ. • The last view is to be preferred.

  15. What Does Rev. 20 Teach? • Satan Is Loosed For A “Little Season” (Rev. 20:7-8) • When will Satan be released for “a little while?” (20:3, 8) • Shortly before the second coming, he’ll go out to deceive the nations.

  16. What Does Rev. 20 Teach? • Satan Will Be Finally Defeated (Rev. 20:9-10) • All Will Be Judged (Rev. 20:11-14) • All will be there • Books will be opened • Some will experience the second death

  17. In conclusion • Remember these Simple Rules • Get an overall view • Make observations while reading • Interpret only after • Determining the context • Defining the words • Make application
