Biomimicry

Biomimicry involves creating products inspired by nature's designs and mechanisms. A fascinating example is found in insects, which are cold-blooded and must endure low temperatures. They survive the cold through a unique protein called antifreeze, composed of specialized carbohydrates known as cryoprotectants. These proteins lower the freezing point of bodily fluids, preventing ice crystal formation. The study of antifreeze proteins (AFPs) has significant applications in the food industry, pharmaceuticals, and medicine, showcasing the potential of biotechnological innovations.

  2. DefenitionBiomimicry Biomimicry is a create a product inspired by nature pattern.

  3. Biomimikry from Insect Insect are exothermic (cold-blooded), which means they cannot produce their own body heat. How does the insect can survive in the cold temperature?

  4. Insect have a protein in their body namely antifreeze. This protein can protect their body from damage. The antifreeze is composed of specialized carbohydrates (cryoprotectants) that lower the freezing point of the body fluid, preventing the formation of ice crystals.

  5. AFPs (Antifreeze Proteins) This kind of protein usefull for food industry, pharmacy, and medical.
