Üzerinde yaşam barındırdığı bilinen tek doğal gök cismidir. • Katı ya da 'kaya' ağırlıklı yapısı nedeniyle üyesi bulunduğu yer benzeri gezegenler grubuna adını vermiştir. Bu gezegen grubunun kütle ve hacim açısından en büyük üyesidir.
