  1. Assignment Report ON ‘Broadband Commercial Aspects’ Submitted during the vocational training at BSNL Durg Submitted by…….. RiteshMishra Umashankarpandey Deepak Kumar

  2. Assignment Team Assignment Title :Broadband Commercial Aspects Project Date :2013/06/28 Semester:4th and 6th College :GDRCET & SSCET

  3. What is Broadband?Broadband Internet service truly is the most used form of Internet access because of its high access speeds; it is offered in four different forms, DSL (or Digital Subscriber Line), also fiber-optic, cable, and satellite. The old dial-up connection is the only non-broadband internet service available, and even though it is cheaper, most Internet users are moving towards the faster broadband Internet connection.

  4. Types of Broadband 1.DSL 2. Cable 3. Fiber optics 4. Satellite

  5. Broadband Components # .Customer Premises Installation (CPE) # Digital Subscriber Line Access multiplexer(DSLAM) # LAN Switches Aggregating # Broadband Remote Access Server # Radius and LDAP # Provisining System

  6. BROADBAND ACCESSBroadband access technology is broadly classified into two categories. They are Wired Line & Wireless and further classified as detailed in the following . Broadband Access Technology Wired line Wireless DSL(Digital sub’s line) 3G Mobile Cabel Modem Wi-Fi PLC(Power line comm.) WIMAX Optical Fibre Technology FSO(Free space optics)

  7. DSLAM: FUNCTIONS A digital subscriber line access multiplexerDSLAM, is a network device, often located in the telephone exchanges of the telecommunications operators. It connects multiple customer digital subscriber line (DSL) interfaces to a high-speed digital communications channel using multiplexingtechniques. . DSLAM is an integrated hardware & software system that allows the user to access broadband services as well as originate and terminate telephone calls over the same single pair of copper wires. . DSLAM aggregates the subscriber lines.

  8. Tier 1 and Tier 2 LAN Switches .LAN SWITCH: Lan Switches provide gigabit Ethernet interfaces and fast Ethernet interfaces for connecting internetworking elements such as BRAS,DSLAM etc. .Tier 1 switches are gigabit Ethernet aggregation switches to which BRAS and Tier 2 LAN switches are connected through GE/FE interfaces. .All DSLAM are aggregated to Tier 2 switches through FE interfaces except 48 ports DSLAM are aggregated through GE interfaces.

  9. BROADBAND CONNECTIONThis document describes the three most common techniques used to share a broadband connection with multiple computers. Method 1:Sharing a broadband connection using a Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing Method 2:Sharing a broadband connection using a hardware broadband router Method 3:Sharing a broadband connection using a Linux router

  10. Method 1:Sharing a broadband conncetion using a hardware broadband router

  11. Method 2:Sharing a broadband conncetion using a hardware broadband router

  12. Method 3:Sharing a broadband conncetion using a Linux router

  13. Advantages Of Broadband 1.100+Digital Channels (Including all premium Channels) 2. Talk And View (Video Phone using TV) 3. Interactive Education (Learn from experts thru audio-visual real time action) 4.Video On Demand 5.Send and Receive SMS thru TV (Send messages TV to TV, TV to Mobile, Mobile to TV etc) 6.Digital IP Radio (FM services ) 7.TV Program Recording (Record your favorite program, same as Tata Sky. 8.Games on Demand
